About me

Alejandra is a Berlin-based Sound Designer, Multimedia Artist, and Researcher from Mexico City. Her artistic practice seeks to intertwine the boundaries of the imaginary and the poetic through sound. More recently she has been researching about the intricate languages and the invisible networks within biological systems such as forests. She pursuits to learn about these forms of communications in a micro scale, and translate the sometimes inaudible voices of living organisms into music and sound. For the past few months, she has been conceptualizing and creating experimental musical instruments using physical modeling synthesis, specifically using as input data of living organisms like trees. She is currently studying her master’s degree in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts at the University of the Arts in Berlin. Her thesis will consist in a broad research and practical artwork about how machine learning & AI can be applied to innovate specific musical therapies used for patients with language affections.

In the film industry, some of the projects she has worked in have been sponsored by the Mexican Department of Culture, exhibited at Museo Jumex (one of the most well-known contemporary art museums in Mexico), or selected at the Morelia International Film Festival 2022.
Her most recent project I Spread was selected for the festival sous dôme at the Planetarium of the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie in Paris France.

Currently, she is training to become a Spatial Audio Engineer at monom studios, Berlin's center for spatial sound and innovation.
